Ingredients
- 12 large Medjool Dates (soft dates; soak if dry)
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (70% cocoa for depth)
- 4 sheets Graham Crackers (use gluten-free if necessary)
- 1/4 cup Toasted Walnuts (substitute with slivered almonds)
- 1 pinch Sea Salt (flaky salt)
Instructions
- Pit each Medjool date carefully using a sharp paring knife to create an opening along one side of the fruit.
- Lay the pitted dates flat on a parchment-lined baking sheet to prepare for assembly.
- Smash each date gently using the back of a glass or a flat spatula until they are slightly flattened but still intact.
- Fill the center of each flattened date with a small amount of dark chocolate chips and toasted walnut pieces.
- Top the filled dates with a small piece of graham cracker to build your layers properly.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately five minutes or until the chocolate is glossy and soft.
- Remove from the oven, sprinkle with a small pinch of flaky sea salt, and serve warm immediately.
Notes
Select the largest, softest Medjool dates you can find for the best texture. Toast your walnuts slightly before adding them to deepen their flavor profile. Watch the oven closely during baking to prevent over-toasting.
