- 1 medium English cucumber, thinly sliced
- 2 medium lemons, thinly sliced
- 1-inch piece fresh ginger root, peeled and sliced into thin matchsticks
- 8 cups filtered water
- 1 to 2 cups ice cubes (optional)
Instructions
- Wash the cucumber, lemons, and ginger thoroughly under cool running water.
- Slice the cucumber into thin rounds, slice the lemons into thin wheels, and peel and cut the ginger into matchstick-like pieces.
- Pour 8 cups of filtered water into a clean glass pitcher, then add all the sliced cucumber, lemon, and ginger pieces.
- Stir gently, cover the pitcher, and place it in the refrigerator to steep for a minimum of 2 hours, or overnight for optimal flavor development.
- Serve chilled over fresh ice, optionally straining out the solid ingredients and garnishing with a fresh cucumber or lemon slice.
Notes
Use English cucumbers for fewer seeds and thinner skin. Filtered water ensures a crystal-clear appearance. Avoid leaving the ingredients in the pitcher beyond 24 hours to prevent bitter tones from the lemon pith.
