Ingredients

  • 2 medium lemons, thinly sliced
  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger root, peeled and sliced into thin matchsticks
  • 8 cups filtered water
  • 1 to 2 cups ice cubes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash the cucumber, lemons, and ginger thoroughly under cool running water.
  2. Slice the cucumber into thin rounds, slice the lemons into thin wheels, and peel and cut the ginger into matchstick-like pieces.
  3. Pour 8 cups of filtered water into a clean glass pitcher, then add all the sliced cucumber, lemon, and ginger pieces.
  4. Stir gently, cover the pitcher, and place it in the refrigerator to steep for a minimum of 2 hours, or overnight for optimal flavor development.
  5. Serve chilled over fresh ice, optionally straining out the solid ingredients and garnishing with a fresh cucumber or lemon slice.

Notes
